I'm diggin' powders! - Dior Capture Totale Loose Powder.

i bought another loose powder - i truly love it to try different ones.
i like loose powders as they provide a sort of boudoir feeling. i really appreciate luxurious powders since you can use them everyday even without any special occasion. the result is not too obvious but they still give a subtle effect, not to compare with lip products for example - which totally got neglected by me during my internship time.
experimenting with different powders i could pamper my complexion everyday even when i went to work, while for my lips i would have used a Korres Lip Butter at most.
needless to say that i have acquired quite a few, you only need to hit the "loose powders" label to see ;)

my most recent purchase is the Dior Capture Totale High Definition Radiance Loose Powder, i have it in shade 001 Rose Lumiere/Bright Light but it's only available in that one shade i think. it's quite expensive at 59€ for only 11g of product, but got such good references that i wanted to try it since over two years.

here is what it promises:

"High Definition Loose Powder
With its unique blend of Pigments Cristaux liquides HD™ and Aminolumine™, it transforms the reflection of the on-surface light to recreate a "high definition" brightness which seems to come from inside the skin.
Its soft and comfortable texture smooths visibly the complexion by remaining perfectly invisible.
Its universal color puts down on the skin a uniform and radiant veil. Of a translucent pink, it spreads a wave of freshness on the face.
Tips:
For a light and natural result, apply the powder with the brush to thewhole face.
For a more sophisticated and unified result, apply the powder from the center of the face with the powder puff then stretch towards the outside with the brush."

the powder comes in a beautiful solid tub with pearly silver lid. the pouf is less than average but it also comes with a quite substantial half moon brush made of white goat hair. the brush is rather scratchy compared to my other powder brushes so i still prefer them.

it has a light powdery scent. the powder is very finely milled and of a pale pink beige colour. there are tiny pearl shimmer particles in it, so small that they become undetectable once applied but just to give that "lit from within" illusion.
it creates a smooth and poreless satin finish on my skin. the Dior Capture Totale powder is so fine that it won't interfere with the finish of rather dewy foundations. it does have some brightening effect so i can't evaluate how it will perform on deeper skin tones. it doesn't settle into the pores, emphasize dry patches or look cakey. it stays well over the day and melts with my natural oils to a glowy finish but is not meant to be a mattifying product although i don't look shiny.
i think this would also be a nice option for drier or mature skins.
it's is a really good powder that not only sets my foundation but also has a beautifying effect, on the other hand it is very expensive. on my personal ranking the Dior Capture Totale stays behind the Chanel Poudre Universelle but i prefer it over Kanebo, Laura Mercier, Guerlain and such.
if you want a nice powder that blurs away imperfections and creates a satin and illuminating finish, i'd say go for Chanel. it's a fabulous choice and also at a much better price point for the amount you get.

only with foundation - with Dior Capture Totale Loose Powder

as you can see you can't see any real difference - such an effect is just not to capture in a photograph, but you see i tried ;) (btw i used Catrice Photo Finish foundation on these pics)

here is a super close up:

  1. I love the doir powder because I have very dry skin. It is pricey but for me it does the trick.

  4. I really want to try this product, I like to have a glowing face. But I'm still a little bit doubt, if it's too white for my face.
